A Message From Ray Hart, Owner

A Personal Message From Ray Hart About This Heating Season

I'm Ray, owner of Hart Home Comfort. Here's what I'm watching this year, and why my own family enrolled in a CAP Plan at home.

Why This Year Is Different

Ray doesn't like to alarm anyone. Here's the plain, factual case for why he's paying closer attention this year.

Reserves at a 40 year low. The Strategic Petroleum Reserve recently dropped under 300 million barrels, the lowest level since 1983.
A 40 year first. The U.S. bought zero oil from Saudi Arabia in July, the first time that has happened in more than four decades.
A key supplier disrupted. Russia supplies roughly 8% of the world's diesel fuel, chemically close to the heating oil in your tank, and that supply has been disrupted by the ongoing war.
Hurricane season, tight refineries. Refineries are already running near capacity. One outage can set off a domino effect on price.
It's happened before. Heating oil topped $6 a gallon in 2022. Before that: 1973, 1979, 1980. Oil shocks have a habit of repeating.
Ray's bottom line. None of this guarantees a spike. It's exactly why he's not waiting to find out.

What A CAP Plan Actually Does

Sets A Ceiling

You and Hart agree on a maximum price. Your price never goes higher than that, no matter what the market does.

Protects You From Spikes

If oil prices jump this winter, you're covered. No surprise deliveries, no surprise bills.

You Still Win If Prices Drop

If the market falls below your cap, your price can fall with it. You're never locked out of savings.

One Predictable Payment

Pair it with a Budget Plan and your capped price is spread evenly across 12 monthly payments.

My wife and I are on the CAP Plan and Budget Plan at our own house. I don't want billing surprises any more than you do.

How A CAP Plan Works, In Plain English

  • 1You and Hart set a ceiling price for your heating oil for the coming season. You pay a small fee for that protection.
  • 2If market prices rise, even a lot, your price never crosses your ceiling.
  • 3If market prices fall, your price can fall too, once the market drops back below your cap.
  • 4Add a Budget Plan and that number gets spread evenly across 12 monthly payments, so there's no large seasonal bill to plan around.
